The Illinois Online Network (ION) is seeking case studies from faculty members,
trainers, and administrators that describe educational experiences and efforts
(successes, failures or challenges) in creating relevant and effective learning
opportunities in online education (especially in Illinois). Papers should
focus on experiences that have enhanced or have the potential of enhancing
the educational/training process through online learning or in support of
online learning . We encourage articles that take advantage of the electronic
format by including hypermedia links to multimedia material both within and
outside the article.
Faculty, staff, and administrators are eligible to participate in this program. Five
case studies will be selected from among the submissions to be published on
the ION Web site, and the authors, their program and their institutions will
be highlighted. Papers will be selected by the Illinois Online Network professional
staff on the basis of their relevance across disciplines and adaptability
to a variety of educational scenarios.
Possible topics may include but are not limited to:
- New teaching/learning strategies
- Online course/program evaluation
- Innovative uses of multimedia in teaching
- Partnerships within or among institutions in support of online learning
- Student readiness efforts
- Grant writing for technology
- Faculty development programs and strategies
- New online courses in emerging occupations
- Recruitment and retention of under-represented students with special
needs
- Cross-cultural issues in online learning
- Accessibility issues for online learning
- Online student assessment
We hope to make the publication of case studies a regular feature of our
Web site with new articles featured every six months, and articles from previous
publication cycles made available in a Web archive. The success and viability
of this project will ultimately depend on the response and interest expressed
by individuals from ION partner institutions.
